Hello,
I have searched this forum, through the search feature and have not found anything that helps. I have also searched Google and have found how to change from PIO to DMA, however I already know this. The problem is that, it lists DMA as the transfer mode but says that the current mode is PIO mode.
The above settings are for Primary IDE Channel, through the Device Manager in Wnidows XP. the customer brought this laptop in last year and now it's back. Last year I was able to change the transfer mode to DMA, so it listed DMA as "the current transfer mode". This laptop runs very slow, the sound is choppy. The pc did have viruses, but it is cleaned up now. I am looking for a solution that will set the current mode back to DMA and keep it there.
I have upgraded the BIOS to the current level F.54, I also ran the AMD Processor update for Microsoft Windows XP SP2.
The laptop is a dv8000 Windows XP SP2 AMD Turion64 1GB RAM
I would appreciate any advice in setting the current transfer mode to DMA.
Thanks,
Peter
